There are a number of excellent videos on YouTube and elsewhere that describe the Peak Oil challenge and the importance of the energy supply to economic growth. Here are a few:

The United States Government is now entering the scene of large scale energy transformation. This is an extremely important move since the United States possesses both large scale technical resources and critical experience from running large-scale technology development and implementation programs. In this video, political TV-show host Rachel Maddow interviews US Energy Secretary Stephen Chu, who promises that the first steps will be followed by further large scale-investments in energy transformation.

Mr. T. Boone Pickens has taken the bold initiative to launch “The Pickens Plan” for large scale energy systems transformation, and he presents the issues related to energy security, energy supply, and his plan in a number of videos:

Richard Heinberg has written a number of important books on Peak Oil. Here are two clips of him describing the challenge and community action to prepare for Peak Oil:







Matthew Simmons is a very competent oil consultant, who wrote the immensely important book “Twilight in the Desert” about the future of Saudi Arabian oil production.







Colin Campbell is an oil geologist who was among the people who identified the Peak Oil issue and started to put it in the public eye. Here he is interviewed by Julian Darley, Director of Post Carbon Institute and author of “High Noon for Natural Gas”:







The US Congressman Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland has given speeches on energy and Peak Oil issues several times in the House:







The oil geologist M. King Hubbert of Shell, first introduced the idea that the peak in oil production represents a major economic event. In 1956 he correctly forecast the US peak of 1970. Here is is in a 1976 clip discussing the global peak:

None of the videos provides a method, logic or principle for large scale transformation of global energy systems, similar to the one presented in Global Energy Transformation. However, they are excellent as introductions to the various aspects of the subject and to the challenge of Peak Oil.
