“Eye-Opening Sessions”
Many people in different roles in companies and public organizations will need to participate as administrators and decision-makers in the transformation to electric vehicles. Still, few possess the knowledge necessary to be able to do analyses of the needs for charging infrastructure and reinforcement of power grids and make decisions.
New solutions are developed, and strategic decisions will be needed in the next few years in many areas. For example, research indicates that electric roads will be needed to create efficient electric transport systems. It is likely to take at least ten years until large systems of electric roads can be in place. With electric roads, fewer stationary chargers will be needed. Nevertheless, stationary charging infrastructure will have to expand dramatically in the next few years, but the expansion will not continue at the same pace after large systems of electric roads have been built.
Electric vehicles will also need large amounts of electricity and charging will take place at night, but also during the day, and at hours of peak electricity demand. What are the alternative strategies for charging and how will the choices affect the need to expand power production and grids?
We do not have exact answers to all questions at present, but it is important that more people start to learn about aspects like:
- How much power electric vehicles need and how much this translates to in terms of investments in electricity generation, power grids, and charging infrastructure.
- The different technologies and alternatives for charging and which investments need to be made.
- What we know and what we do not know about the need to expand charging infrastructure and reinforce power grids and what we need to do to be able to make decisions and plan the expansion activities.
Training will be needed to fill the roles in projects, and it will be needed so that administrators and decision makers can move forward with the appropriate measures. The situation facing the people who will drive the change differs between countries. The amount of power available differs, the state of power grids, and the amount of progress the transformation has made so far differs as well.
Do you aspire to work with electromobility? Then you will need to start to learn some of the basics, many things that even most experts on electric vehicles or charging infrastructure have not started to dig into yet.

I have developed a training programme consisting of 5 sessions and I am now offering the opportunity for people to sign up for the two different sets of dates when I will offer the training during the autumn.
The theme of each session:
Session 1 – The Power System Perspective
Session 2 – The Financial Perspective
Session 3 – The Vehicle and Charging Infrastructure Perspectives
Session 4 – The Change Management Perspective
Session 5 – The Global Transformation Perspective
The following two courses are available. The same issues and material will be gone through in both courses:
